National Museum of Military History
The National Museum of Military History in Diekirch shows, with the help of numerous detailed dioramas, the events surrounding the Battle of the Bulge (1944-45). Visitors get an overview of the tragic situation in which the soldiers and civilians found themselves during the fighting. In addition, there are sections dedicated to the Luxembourg Army, the Allied soldiers of the First and Second World Wars as well as the Korean War and our veterans. Special rooms show important collections of weapons, uniforms, military equipment of all kinds, wheeled and tracked vehicles, as well as many personal objects, photos, documents and maps. The masterpiece is undoubtedly the detailed representation of the crossing of the Sauer river near Diekirch on January 18, 1945 by units of the 5th U.S. Infantry Division.
